Bakit, por que, why??
Why does everyone in this country think I am either of the following:
- Under 18 years of age (16, to be more specific)
- Chinese
- Native Costa Rican, or even just Latina
- Not a real American
Forreals.

Feel your pain. >_< I'm always mistaken for younger, my mum says 'it's a good thing!' I find it quite frustrating, actually.

Sometimes, it is hard to tell what race somebody is, and I do think that an Asian with dark skin can look a bit Latino. But ya…
I get mistaken for older. People are surprised when I tell them that I’m 19. But if I leave my hair just the right way, I look like I’m 16.

Back home in Chicago, I sometimes get mistaken for Hispanic. But I think that’s only because I have jet black hair…

Same. I get mistaken for many backgrounds and age. Sometimes it just doesn’t hurt to ask instead of guessing. :/
