Age ain't nothin' but a number
Yesterday before work I stopped by K-Mart to pick up some face wash and whatnot. The total came to $10.11 or something like that. I pulled out a $20 bill and then told the cashier to wait a bit while I rummaged through for a dime and a penny. When I pulled out my faded pink Hello Kitty change purse, she said, “Finally! A teenager with a change purse!”
And I don’t know why, but I felt slightly insulted by her comment.
Okay, okay. So technically I AM still a teenager. I have 23 days to go before I can proudly say that I am not. This is what I hate about having such a late birthday. I spend most of my time with people who are supposedly “my” age but are already safely ensconced in their twentieth year, thus making me feel older than I really am. And then when the actual happy occasion comes by, it feels much more insignificant than it should be. I am very much an anti-birthday person, I suppose.
Last night was quite interesting. While driving to the movie theater with my friend Jessica, B96 was having their nightly countdown. Lo and behold – Jay Sean’s “Down” was number one! It was so surreal, to hear his amazingly gorgeous voice on the radio. Even more surreal was the fact that “Down” was the most requested single in the Chicago listening area! It’s always weird to hear an artist you’ve been listening to for years now all of a sudden become popular and mainstream. Anyway, I got the approval from The Fanlistings Network to build a fanlisting for Jay Sean! I’m super duper excited; this gives me something to do, and furthermore, I get to indulge myself in more Jay Sean goodness.
